Want to make it easier for potential adopters and fosters to connect with your shelter? PawPlacer streamlines the entire process. Here's how to set up and manage applications effectively.
Going Public
First, let's make your shelter visible online:
- Head to your Settings page
- Find the public profile toggle
- Switch it on to make your shelter discoverable
- Use the preview link to see your public profile
Take a moment to ensure your profile looks welcoming and professional - this is your shelter's digital front door! Make sure to fill out your shelter's address, add your logo, and provide a brief description of your mission.
Receiving Applications
Once your profile is public, you can receive two types of applications:
Adoption Applications
- Applications for specific pets
- General adoption interest forms
Foster Applications
- General foster interest forms
Managing Applications
When Applications Arrive
- Look for the notification badge on the Pending filter of the respective applications tab
Making Decisions
For each application, you can:
- Approve promising candidates
- Decline unsuitable matches
- Request more information if needed
Remember: Approval moves applicants to your active list but doesn't finalize anything - it's just the first step in your process.
Next Steps
After approving an application:
- Access the applicant's full profile
- Begin your standard screening process
- Schedule meet-and-greets if applicable
- Proceed with your normal adoption or foster procedures
Pro Tips
- Check applications regularly to maintain quick response times
- Keep your public profile updated with current pets and needs
- Use the preview feature to ensure your profile looks inviting
- Document your decisions for consistent application processing
Remember, a well-managed application system helps create more successful matches between pets and their potential families or foster homes!
