PawPlacer allows you to create and manage tasks directly from pet profiles, making it easy to track pet-specific activities and needs. This integration ensures that all pet-related tasks are properly connected to the right animal.
Viewing Pet-Related Tasks
When viewing a pet's profile:
- Scroll down to the "Tasks" section
- You'll see a list of all tasks associated with this pet
- Tasks are displayed in chronological order by due date
This gives you a complete view of what needs to be done for each pet without having to search across different boards.
Creating a Task from a Pet Profile
To add a new task for a pet:
- Navigate to the pet's profile
- Scroll to the "Tasks" section
- Click the "Add Task" button
- The task creation dialog will open with the pet already selected
- Fill in the task details:
- Name
- Description
- Due date
- Assignee
- Tags
- Select a board and column for the task
- Click "Create Task"
The new task will appear both on the pet's profile and on the selected board.
Editing Tasks from Pet Profiles
To update a task from a pet's profile:
- Find the task you want to edit in the pet's "Tasks" section
- Click on the task card
- Make your changes in the dialog that appears
- Click "Update Task" to save
Changes made from the pet profile will be reflected on the task boards as well.
Task Permissions for Pet Profiles
Note that your ability to create or edit tasks may depend on your user role:
- All users can view tasks associated with pets
- Task managers can create and edit tasks
- Regular users may be able to view but not modify tasks
If you don't see the "Add Task" button or can't edit tasks, check with your administrator about your permissions.
When to Use Pet Profile Tasks
Creating tasks from pet profiles is particularly useful for:
- Medical needs: Scheduling vaccinations, medications, or vet visits
- Behavioral training: Setting up training sessions or behavioral assessments
- Adoption process: Managing meet-and-greets, home visits, or paperwork
- Daily care: Scheduling walks, grooming, or special feeding requirements
- Follow-ups: Setting reminders for post-adoption check-ins
Multi-Pet Tasks
You can also create tasks that involve multiple pets:
- Start creating a task from one pet's profile
- In the task creation dialog, add additional pets using the pet selector
- The task will appear on all selected pets' profiles
This is useful for activities that involve multiple animals, like group walks or transport.
Archived Pets and Tasks
If a pet is archived (e.g., after adoption or transfer):
- Existing tasks remain visible on the pet's profile
- You cannot add new tasks to archived pet profiles
- You cannot edit tasks for archived pets
This maintains the historical record while preventing changes to completed cases.
Best Practices for Pet-Related Tasks
- Be specific about pet needs in task descriptions
- Set appropriate due dates that align with the pet's schedule or requirements
- Assign to the right team members who work with the specific pet
- Use consistent tags to categorize different types of pet care
- Check pet profiles regularly for upcoming or overdue tasks
- Create sequential tasks for multi-step processes (like medical treatments)
By managing tasks directly from pet profiles, you ensure that no animal's needs are overlooked and that everyone on your team knows what care each pet requires.
