The Schedule View in PawPlacer provides a calendar-based perspective of your tasks and events, helping you visualize deadlines and plan your workload across days or weeks. This view is especially useful for understanding the timing of tasks and identifying busy periods.
Accessing the Schedule View
The Schedule View is available in two main locations:
- On your Dashboard: The Schedule View appears in the lower portion of your dashboard, showing today and upcoming days
- From the main navigation: You can also access a full-page Schedule View from the navigation menu
Understanding the Schedule Layout
The Schedule View is organized as follows:
- Days are displayed as columns: Each column represents a full day
- Hours are displayed as rows: Time runs from top to bottom
- Tasks and events appear as cards: Positioned according to their due date and time
- Color-coding: Tasks are color-coded based on their tags
Navigating the Schedule
To move around in the Schedule View:
- Use the left and right arrows next to the date to move between days
- The date range displayed will depend on your screen size:
- On mobile: 1 day at a time
- On tablet: 3 days at a time
- On desktop: 4-5 days at a time
- Use the scroll area to move up and down through the hours of the day
Interacting with Tasks in Schedule View
You can manage tasks directly from the Schedule View:
- Click on any task to open its details
- Make changes in the dialog that appears
- Click "Update Task" to save your changes
The task will update in both the Schedule View and on any boards where it appears.
Task Card Information
Each task card in the Schedule View displays:
- Task title: The name of the task
- Description: A snippet of the task description (if available)
- Pet avatars: Small images of any pets associated with the task
- Color: Background color based on the task's tag
Viewing Events Alongside Tasks
The Schedule View shows both tasks and events:
- Tasks: Created from task boards or pet profiles
- Events: Created from the events section (like adoption events, vet visits, etc.)
This integration gives you a complete picture of everything happening at your facility or organization.
Time Range Display
The Schedule View automatically adjusts to show relevant hours:
- It will focus on hours when you have scheduled tasks or events
- If you have early morning and late evening tasks, the view will expand to show those hours
- By default, it shows standard business hours if no tasks exist yet
Filtering the Schedule
While there isn't a direct filter in the Schedule View itself, the content shown reflects:
- The tasks and events you have permission to see
- Any filters you've applied on your dashboard (if viewing from there)
Adding Tasks from Schedule View
To add a new task directly from Schedule View:
- Click on a task in the Schedule View
- In the dialog that appears, you can edit that task or use navigation within the system to create a new task
- New tasks with due dates will automatically appear in the Schedule View once created
Schedule View Best Practices
- Set specific times for tasks, not just dates, to position them accurately in the Schedule View
- Use the Schedule View for time planning to ensure you don't overbook certain days
- Look for gaps in your schedule where additional tasks could be scheduled
- Review your Schedule View at the start of each week to plan your workload
- Check for overlapping commitments that might cause conflicts
- Use different tag colors for different types of activities to make the schedule more visually informative
Schedule View Limitations
Be aware of these limitations when using the Schedule View:
- Tasks without due dates will not appear in the Schedule View
- Tasks with dates but no specified times will default to the start of the day
- The Schedule View primarily focuses on upcoming tasks, not past ones
- Very long-term tasks (months ahead) require navigating forward to view
By effectively using the Schedule View, you can better manage your time, coordinate team activities, and ensure that all tasks are completed on schedule.
