Surrenders

Surrenders help your team collect and review owner surrender requests before creating or linking pet records. A surrender stores the contact record, form answers, notes, documents, and any pets that are linked or created from the request.

You can access surrenders from the main navigation under Surrenders.

How Surrenders Work

PawPlacer separates the surrender request from the pet record:

• Surrender record: owner/contact details, custom form answers, status, notes, and documents.
• Pet items: draft animal details submitted or entered during intake. These are not pet profiles yet.
• Linked or created pets: real pet profiles created with the pet form or linked to existing pets.

Public surrender submissions create surrender cases and draft pet items. They do not create public or internal pet profiles automatically.

Surrenders List

The Surrenders page is a list of surrender requests. Use it to:

• Search by contact or animal name
• Filter by surrender status
• Filter by due date and tags
• See how many animal items are attached to each case
• Open a surrender to review form answers and pet items

Surrender Profile

Open a surrender to review the full case. The profile includes:

• Overview: contact details and custom form answers
• Pets: draft animal items with actions to review, accept, decline, or link to pet records
• Documents: uploaded files for the surrender
• Notes: internal notes about the case

Statuses

Status controls the surrender record state, such as Pending, Active, Inactive, Denied, Blocked, Suspended, or Training.

Pet items have their own statuses: Draft, Reviewing, Accepted, Declined, Linked, or Converted.

Permissions

Managing surrenders requires the Pet Manager role, Admin access, or account owner access. Users without permission will see a permission notice instead of surrender data.
