    What is a Foster?

    A foster is a volunteer who temporarily cares for animals in their home until the animal is ready for adoption. Fosters provide essential care, socialization, and rehabilitation for animals who may not thrive in a shelter environment.

    The foster management system helps you:

    • Track Foster Profiles: Maintain complete records for all foster volunteers
    • Manage Assignments: Monitor which animals are in which foster homes
    • Monitor Capacity: Track how many animals each foster can accommodate with visual indicators
    • Process Applications: Review and approve new foster applications
    • Foster-to-Adopt: Handle cases when fosters decide to adopt their foster animal
    • Transfer Assignments: Move pets between fosters when needed
    • Track Statistics: View fostering history and average duration metrics

    Foster List

    To view your fosters, click Fosters in the main menu. From the list page you can:

    • View all your fosters and their current status
    • See how many animals each foster is currently caring for
    • Search for specific fosters by name
    • Filter by status (active, pending, suspended, etc.)
    • Add new fosters
    • Access individual foster profiles
