Viewing Foster Profiles
- Go to Fosters in the main menu
- Click on any foster's name
- Their full profile will open
Profile Overview
At the top of the profile:
- Foster's name and current status
- Action buttons (Edit, Archive, etc.)
- Dual role indicator if they're also an adopter
Profile Sections
Foster Information
- Name, email, and phone
- Home address
Main Contact
If different from the foster:
- Contact person's details
- Preferred communication method
Animal Preferences
- Species they can foster
- Age groups they prefer
- How long they typically foster
- Maximum capacity
Notes
Any additional information about the foster
Documents
Upload and manage foster-related documents
Statistics
- Total animals fostered
- Currently fostering
- Completed fosters
- Average foster duration (in days)
Fostered Pets
View and manage all pet assignments:
- Current and past foster pets
- Assignment status and dates
- Quick actions for each assignment
Editing Foster Information
- Click Edit in the top-right corner
- Update any fields
- Click Save Foster
Foster Status Options
Fosters can have these statuses:
- Active: Can receive new foster assignments
- Pending: Application waiting for review
- Training: In training, can receive appropriate animals
- On Hold: Temporarily unavailable for new assignments
- Suspended: Cannot foster (application denied or other issues)
- Do Not Foster: Flagged - should not receive any animals
To change status:
- Click the three-dot menu in the top-right
- Select Change Status
- Choose the new status and add notes if needed
Reviewing Applications
For pending applications:
- Review the foster's information
- You'll see a yellow alert at the top
- Click Approve or Decline
This only affects their status in your system and doesn't send notifications.
Assignment Management
The Fostered Pets section shows:
- Statistics cards displaying counts for active, pending, and completed assignments
- Filter dropdown to view different statuses (All, Pending, Active, Completed, Cancelled)
- List of all assignments with pet details, dates, and status
Quick Actions
For each assignment:
- Green checkmark: Confirm pending assignments
- Edit icon: Change dates or notes
- Trash icon: Remove assignments (use sparingly)
Assignment Warnings
The system will alert you when:
- Foster has reached capacity
- Foster status doesn't allow new assignments
- Assignment dates conflict
Converting to Adopter
When a foster wants to adopt their pet:
- Click the three-dot menu
- Select Convert to Adopter
- Choose whether to:
- Keep both foster and adopter roles
- Convert completely to adopter only
- Select an adopter form template if you have one
- Click Convert
Dual Role Management
When someone is both a foster and adopter:
- A yellow banner shows at the top of their profile
- Click the link to switch between profiles
- Information is shared between both roles
Archive and Delete
Archiving
Temporarily deactivate a foster:
- Click the three-dot menu
- Select Archive
- They'll be hidden from the main list but data is preserved
Unarchiving
- Filter the foster list by "Archived" status
- Open their profile
- Click Unarchive from the menu
Deleting
Permanently remove a foster:
- Ensure they have no active assignments
- Click Delete from the three-dot menu
- Confirm the deletion
Note: You cannot delete fosters with active pet assignments.
