Events
The Events page in PawPlacer is where you plan, schedule, and track everything from adoption fairs to fundraisers to internal meetings. You can view events on a calendar or in a table, filter by type and status, and manage saved locations so setting up recurring venues is quick and easy.
Accessing the Events Page
- Open the main navigation menu
- Select More
- Click Events
You need the Event Manager or Admin role to create and edit events. Team members without this role can still view scheduled events but will see a permission notice if they try to make changes.
Viewing Modes
The Events page offers two main viewing modes on desktop, toggled with the view switcher in the top-right corner.
Table View
Table view displays all your events in a sortable, paginated list. Each row shows:
- Name of the event
- Type as a color-coded badge (e.g. Adoption Event, Fundraiser)
- Status as a color-coded badge (e.g. Upcoming, Ongoing)
- Location with address, city, and state
- Date showing the scheduled start date and time range
Click any column header to sort by that field. Click any row to open the event for editing.
Calendar View
Calendar view splits the page into two panels. The left panel shows a scrollable list of event cards with the name, date, type, time range, and location. The right panel displays a visual calendar.
The calendar supports three sub-views, selectable from a dropdown above the calendar:
- 5-Day shows five consecutive days with hourly time slots (default on desktop)
- Week shows a full seven-day week with hourly time slots
- Month shows a traditional month grid with events listed inside each day cell
Use the arrow buttons to navigate forward and backward through dates, and the Today button to jump back to the current date. Click any event on the calendar to open its details.
Mobile View
On smaller screens, events are displayed as a vertical list of cards. Each card shows the event name, type and status badges, description preview, date, time, and location. A dropdown menu on each card provides quick access to edit, duplicate, or delete.
Filtering and Searching
Above the event list you will find:
- Search bar to filter events by name or description
- Type filter dropdown to show only events of a specific type (or all types)
- Status filter dropdown to show only events with a specific status (or all statuses)
Filters are applied immediately and reflected in the URL, so you can bookmark or share a filtered view.
Event Types
PawPlacer supports eight event type categories, each with its own color for quick visual identification:
- General: default category for any event
- Adoption Event: pet adoption fairs and meet-and-greets
- Fundraiser: fundraising drives and galas
- Training: educational workshops and staff training
- Medical: veterinary clinics and health-related events
- Volunteer: volunteer recruitment and coordination events
- Meeting: internal team meetings and check-ins
- Other: anything that doesn't fit the above categories
Event Statuses
Each event has a status that tracks where it is in its lifecycle:
- Draft: event is being planned and is not yet finalized
- Upcoming: event is confirmed and scheduled for the future
- Ongoing: event is currently in progress
- Completed: event has finished
- Cancelled: event has been called off
Where Events Appear
Events you create here also show up in other parts of PawPlacer:
- Dashboard Schedule View: events appear as blue items on the weekly calendar alongside your tasks
- Dashboard Quick Search: search for events by name from the dashboard
- Public Profile: events marked as public are visible on your organization's public-facing profile page
