Managing Events

How to edit, duplicate, and delete events in PawPlacer

Editing an Event

  1. Find the event you want to edit: either in the table, calendar, or mobile list
  2. Click on the event to open the event dialog
  3. Update any field: name, description, dates, type, status, location, or public visibility
  4. Click Update Event to save your changes

Changes are reflected immediately across the Events page, your dashboard schedule, and your public profile (if the event is marked as public).

Changing Event Status

As an event progresses, update its status to keep your calendar accurate:

  1. Open the event dialog
  2. Use the Status dropdown to select the new status
  3. Click Update Event

A typical status flow might look like: Draft → Upcoming → Ongoing → Completed. If an event is called off, set it to Cancelled.

Duplicating an Event

Duplicating is useful when you run similar events on a regular basis (e.g. a monthly adoption fair):

  1. On mobile, tap the three-dot menu on an event card and select Duplicate
  2. A new event is created with the same details and "(copy)" added to the name
  3. Open the new event to adjust the dates, description, or any other details

Deleting an Event

  1. Click on the event to open the event dialog
  2. Click the Delete button at the bottom-left of the dialog
  3. Confirm the deletion when prompted

Deleted events are permanently removed from your events list and calendar.

Updating an Event's Location

To change where an event takes place:

  1. Open the event dialog
  2. In the location section, either select a different saved place from the dropdown or click Add New to enter a custom address
  3. Click Update Event

If you notice an address is wrong on a saved place, click the pencil icon next to the place dropdown to edit the saved location directly. Changes to a saved place will apply to future events that use it; they will not retroactively change events already created.

Tips for Managing Events

  • Keep event statuses up to date so your team always knows what is happening now versus what is still being planned
  • Use the Draft status for events that are tentative; this keeps them visible internally without exposing them publicly
  • After an event is over, update its status to Completed rather than deleting it, so you have a historical record
  • Review your events list periodically and clean up any cancelled or stale draft events
