Making an Event Public
When you create or edit an event, you will see a Show on Public Pages toggle in the event dialog. Turning this on makes the event visible on your organization's public profile page, where potential adopters, fosters, and community members can see it.
By default, new events are created with public visibility turned on. You can turn it off for internal-only events like staff meetings or planning sessions.
What Appears on the Public Profile
Public events are displayed in a dedicated Events section on your organization's public profile page. Visitors will see:
- Event name
- Description
- Scheduled date and time
- Location (if provided)
When to Use Public Events
- Adoption fairs: let potential adopters know when and where to meet available pets
- Fundraisers: promote galas, bake sales, or donation drives to the community
- Volunteer events: recruit new volunteers by advertising upcoming opportunities
- Community events: share open houses, educational workshops, or pet wellness clinics
When to Keep Events Private
- Internal meetings: team syncs, board meetings, or performance reviews
- Draft events: events that are still being planned and not yet confirmed
- Sensitive events: anything that shouldn't be visible to the public
Simply leave the Show on Public Pages toggle off for these events.
Managing Public Visibility
You can change an event's public visibility at any time:
- Open the event dialog
- Toggle Show on Public Pages on or off
- Click Update Event
The change takes effect immediately. If you turn off public visibility, the event is removed from your public profile right away.
