Form Filler

Upload paper forms, detect fields automatically, and fill them out digitally

Form Filler

Form Filler lets you upload paper forms (PDFs or images), automatically detect fillable fields, and fill them out on screen. Save forms as reusable templates so you never have to scan the same document twice.

Why Use Form Filler?

  • Go Paperless: Fill out adoption disclosures, vet forms, and intake sheets without printing.
  • Save Time: Upload a form once, save it as a template, and reuse it whenever you need.
  • Auto-Detection: PDF forms with built-in fields are detected instantly. Scanned forms use OCR to find fields automatically.
  • Print-Ready: Fill out a form on screen and print it with your answers in place.

Accessing Form Filler

  1. Navigate to More from the main menu
  2. Click on Form Filler

Supported File Types

FormatField Detection
PDF with form fieldsFields are detected automatically from the PDF's built-in form data
PDF without form fields (scanned)OCR reads the document and identifies likely fields
Images (PNG, JPG, WEBP)OCR reads the image and identifies likely fields

How It Works

1. Upload a Form

Click Upload Form and select a PDF or image file. The system processes your file in two steps:

  • PDF forms: The built-in form fields (text inputs, dropdowns) are extracted directly
  • Scanned forms and images: OCR scans the document for common patterns like underscores, colons followed by blank space, and labeled lines

2. Place or Adjust Fields

After upload, detected fields appear as labeled boxes overlaid on your form. You can:

  • Add fields by clicking anywhere on the form (in Place mode).
  • Move fields by dragging them to the right position.
  • Resize fields by dragging the edges.
  • Rename fields by clicking on a field and editing its label.
  • Delete fields you don't need.

3. Fill Out the Form

Switch to Fill mode and type directly into each field. Your entries appear right on the form.

4. Print

Click Print to send the completed form to your printer. Only the form and your filled-in answers are printed; the toolbar and controls are hidden automatically.

Templates

Templates let you save a form layout so you can fill it out again later without re-uploading.

Saving a Template

  1. Upload and arrange fields on your form
  2. Enter a name in the template name field
  3. Click Save Template

The form image and field positions are saved. Any text you've typed into the fields is not saved with the template -- only the blank layout.

Using a Saved Template

Saved templates appear below the upload area. Each template shows a thumbnail preview. Click:

  • Fill to open a fresh copy ready to fill out
  • Edit to adjust field positions or add new fields
  • Delete to remove the template

Updating a Template

Open a template with Edit, make your changes, then click Save Template again. The existing template is updated in place.

Tips

  • OCR works best with clean, high-contrast scans. Blurry or low-resolution images may miss some fields.
  • PDF forms with built-in fields give the most accurate results. If you have the original digital PDF, use that over a scanned copy.
  • Name your templates clearly (for example, "Adoption Disclosure - Dogs") so they're easy to find later.
  • You can always add fields manually if auto-detection misses something. Switch to Place mode and click where the field should go.
