Editing Fields

Place, move, resize, and configure fields on your uploaded forms

Editing Fields

After uploading a form, you enter Edit Fields mode where you can place new fields, adjust existing ones, and configure how each field behaves.

Adding Fields

Click anywhere on the form image to place a new field. It appears as a labeled box with a default name like "Field 1". You can place as many fields as you need.

Moving and Resizing

  • Move a field by clicking and dragging it to a new position. Fields snap to a grid for clean alignment.
  • Resize a field by dragging its right edge (width), bottom edge (height), or corner (both at once).

Field Properties

Select any field to open the properties panel on the right side. Here you can configure:

  • Label: a descriptive name for the field (for example, "Owner Name" or "Date of Birth").
  • Maps to: optionally bind the field to a data property so it auto-fills when you link a record (see Filling Forms).
  • Field type: choose between Text, Date, Checkbox, or Signature.
  • Required: mark whether the field must be filled before the form can be finalized or shared.
  • Position: fine-tune the X and Y coordinates as percentages.
  • Font size: adjust the text size for this field (10–36px).

Field Types

TypeBehavior
TextStandard text input with a dashed underline.
DateOpens a date picker when filling.
CheckboxRenders as a toggleable checkbox.
SignatureOpens a signature canvas for drawing a signature.

Batch Operations

The toolbar includes shortcuts for working with multiple fields:

  • A−/A+: decrease or increase the font size for all fields at once.
  • Duplicate: copy the selected field (useful for repeating fields like address lines).
  • Clear All: remove every field and start over.

Entity Type

At the top of the editor, you can set a default entity type for the template: Pet, Adopter, Foster, or Volunteer. This determines which data fields are available in the "Maps to" dropdown. Setting it here means you won't have to choose it each time you fill the form.

Tips

  • Use clear, descriptive labels. They'll appear as placeholders when someone fills out the form.
  • Fields snap to a 0.25% grid, which helps keep everything aligned.
  • If auto-detection placed a field in the wrong spot, just drag it where it belongs.
  • You can always switch between Edit Fields and Fill Form mode using the toggle in the toolbar.
