The background image section serves two purposes: personalizing your dashboard and displaying which team members and volunteers are scheduled to work today.
Background Image Section Overview
This section appears in the upper-left area of your dashboard and includes:
- Background Image: Your personal customizable background photo
- Settings Icon: A gear icon that appears on hover (takes you to UI Settings)
- Team Avatars: Profile pictures displayed in the bottom-right corner
Who Appears in the Team Display
Profile pictures show team members working today:
Staff Members:
- Display their profile photo or initials
- Hovering shows "Member:" followed by their name
- Must have scheduled hours for today to appear
Volunteers:
- Display initials with a colored background
- Hovering shows "Volunteer:" followed by their name
- Clickable - takes you to the volunteer schedule page
- Only appear if scheduled for today
Note: Team members only appear if they have specific start and end times set in their schedule for the current day.
Changing Your Background Image
To update your dashboard background:
- Hover over the background image
- Click the settings icon (gear) that appears
- This takes you directly to Settings > UI Settings
- In the UI Settings page, you can:
- Choose from preset background images
- Upload your own custom image
- Save your selection
Your new background will appear immediately on the dashboard.
Troubleshooting Team Display
If expected team members aren't showing:
- Check their schedule: Go to Settings > Members and verify their schedule
- Ensure times are set: They must have both start and end times for today
- Verify the day: Schedules are day-specific (Monday, Tuesday, etc.)
- For volunteers: Check Settings > Volunteers to confirm their schedule
Remember: The display updates automatically based on the current day of the week.
Best Practices
For Background Images:
- Choose images with space in the bottom-right for team avatars
- Use high-quality images that load quickly
- Consider seasonal updates to keep the dashboard fresh
- Ensure good contrast for avatar visibility
For Team Scheduling:
- Review the display each morning to see who's working
- Keep schedules updated in the Members/Volunteers settings
- Use this feature for daily staffing awareness
