Processing Donations

The Donation Screen

The donation screen presents adopters with several preset donation options and the ability to enter a custom amount.

The screen includes:

• Images of the pet(s) being adopted
• A message explaining that donations are in addition to adoption fees
• Preset donation amount options with descriptions
• A custom donation input option
• Navigation buttons to skip or continue

Preset Donation Options

PawPlacer shows adopters several preset donation amounts that your organization has configured. Each option includes:

• A donation amount (e.g., $25, $50, $100)
• A brief description explaining what the donation helps fund

When an adopter selects one of these options:

1. The button will be highlighted with a colored border
2. The "Next" button will become active
3. The donation amount will be recorded for the next step

Custom Donation Amounts

If adopters wish to donate an amount different from the presets:

1. They can click on the custom donation field
2. Enter a specific dollar amount
3. The field will be highlighted when selected
4. The "Next" button will become active once a valid amount is entered

Note: Custom donations must be a positive number. The system will not accept negative values or non-numeric characters.

Donation Messaging

The donation screen explains to adopters:

• That donations are optional and in addition to adoption fees
• That 100% of the donation goes to the organization
• How donations help support the organization's mission

These messages help encourage donations while making it clear they are voluntary.

Navigating the Donation Step

Adopters have two options on the donation screen:

1. Skip: If they choose not to make a donation, they can click the "Skip" button to proceed to the payment step with only the adoption fee.

2. Next: After selecting a donation amount (either preset or custom), they can click the "Next" button to continue to the payment step.

Donation Amounts in Organization Settings

Note for Organization Administrators: The preset donation amounts shown to adopters are configured in your organization's settings. To modify these:

1. Navigate to Settings > Donations
2. Add, edit, or remove donation presets
3. For each preset, provide an amount and descriptive text
4. Save your changes to update what adopters see during the process

Next Steps

After the adopter has either selected a donation amount or chosen to skip this step, the process moves to the final phase: Payment Methods and Completion. The donation amount (if any) will be added to the adoption fee in the payment summary.
