Reports & Analytics
PawPlacer includes a reporting system that helps you understand what's happening in your shelter: population trends, medical costs, adoption rates, and length of stay. You can use built-in reports for common metrics or build custom reports from scratch.
Accessing Reports
Navigate to Reports & Analytics from the main sidebar. The reports page shows two sections:
- Built-in Reports: five pre-configured reports covering the most common shelter analytics
- Custom Reports: reports you've created using the report builder
Built-in Reports
These are ready to use immediately with no setup:
| Report | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Population | Current shelter population by species, status group, and demographics |
| Medical | Medical events, vaccination rates, procedure costs, and upcoming follow-ups |
| Length of Stay | Average, median, and maximum time pets spend in your care |
| Outcomes | Adoption rates, transfers, returns, and outcome breakdowns |
| Financial | Adoption fee revenue, donation totals, and period-over-period comparisons |
Each built-in report includes summary cards at the top with key metrics and a detailed data table below.
Custom Reports
The custom report builder lets you create reports from any combination of your data. Choose your data source, select the fields you want, add filters and grouping, and see results instantly. See Custom Reports for a full guide.
Exporting
Both built-in and custom reports can be exported as CSV or XLSX files for use in Excel, Google Sheets, or other tools. See Exporting Reports for details.
Permissions
Reports are available to team members with Admin or Reports Manager roles.
Date Ranges
All reports support date range filtering. You can choose from presets like "Last 30 Days," "This Month," "This Quarter," or "This Year," or pick specific dates using the date picker. The selected range is applied when the report runs.
