Calendar Views

How to use the different calendar views to visualize your event schedule

Switching to Calendar View

From the Events page on desktop, click the calendar icon in the view switcher at the top-right corner. The page will split into a sidebar event list on the left and a visual calendar on the right.

Calendar Sub-Views

Use the dropdown above the calendar to switch between three sub-views:

5-Day View

Shows five consecutive days with hourly time slots. Events appear as blocks positioned at their scheduled time. This is the default calendar view on desktop and works well for seeing the upcoming work week at a glance.

Week View

Shows a full seven-day week (Sunday through Saturday) with hourly time slots. Use this view when you need to plan around weekends or see the entire week in one place.

Month View

Displays a traditional month grid. Events are listed inside each day's cell by name. This view is best for getting a high-level overview of how events are distributed across the month.

Navigating the Calendar

  • Click the left arrow to move to the previous time period (previous 5 days, week, or month)
  • Click the right arrow to move to the next time period
  • Click the Today button (calendar icon) to jump back to the current date

The date range appears between the navigation arrows.

Event Sidebar

The left panel shows a scrollable list of event cards for the selected time period. Each card displays:

  • Event name
  • Date badge showing the day number
  • Type badge (color-coded)
  • Time range
  • Location (or "TBD" if none is set)

Click any card in the sidebar to open the event for editing.

Interacting with Calendar Events

Click any event block on the calendar to open the event dialog, where you can view full details or make changes. Events are color-coded by type to help you quickly distinguish adoption events from meetings, fundraisers, and other categories.

Color Coding

Each event type has a distinct color on the calendar:

  • Adoption Event: Blue
  • Fundraiser: Emerald
  • Training: Indigo
  • Medical: Rose
  • Volunteer: Amber
  • Meeting: Gray
  • General: Gray (default)

Tips for Using Calendar Views

  • Use the 5-Day or Week view when planning your upcoming schedule in detail
  • Switch to the Month view for a broader look at how events are spread out over time
  • Combine the calendar with the type and status filters to focus on specific kinds of events
  • Check for scheduling conflicts by looking for overlapping event blocks in the 5-Day or Week views
