Understanding Public Adoption Links
Public Adoption Links create a special webpage for a specific adopter and the pet(s) they want to adopt. The link allows them to:
- Review adoption terms and conditions
- Make a donation (if applicable)
- Complete payment for adoption fees
Creating a Public Adoption Link
From the Adopter Profile
Public adoption links are created from an adopter's profile:
- Navigate to the adopter's profile page
- Ensure they have prospective pets assigned
- Click the "Adopt" button in the profile header
- The QR code modal will automatically appear with:
- A unique QR code for this adoption
- The public adoption URL
- Options to scan or continue on current device
Using the Public Adoption QR Code
When the QR code modal appears:
- The QR code can be scanned by the adopter using their mobile device
- The code directs them to a secure webpage to complete their adoption
- You can also click "Continue from this device" if the adopter wants to complete the process immediately on your device
How Adopters Use Public Adoption Links
When an adopter accesses their public adoption link, they'll go through these steps:
- Adoption Terms Agreement:
- They must review and agree to your organization's adoption terms
- If they decline, the process ends
- Donation Step:
- They can choose to make a donation to your organization
- This step can be skipped if they don't wish to donate
- Payment Step:
- They will see the adoption fee for their selected pet(s)
- They can choose their payment method
- They complete the payment process
Monitoring Public Adoption Progress
While an adopter is using their public adoption link, you can monitor their progress:
- The QR code modal will remain open on your screen
- The system automatically checks for completion every few seconds
- When the adopter completes the process, you'll receive a notification
- The system will automatically refresh and update the pet and adopter records
Benefits of Public Adoption Links
Public adoption links offer several advantages:
- Flexibility: Adopters can complete the process from anywhere, at any time
- Efficiency: Reduces paperwork and manual payment processing
- Contactless Option: Provides a touch-free payment alternative
- Record Keeping: Automatically updates all records when completed
Important Considerations
When using public adoption links, keep in mind:
- Links are unique to each adopter and specific pet(s)
- Links remain active until completed or manually canceled
- The system will handle pet status changes automatically upon completion
- If an adopter has issues with their link, you can create a new one by restarting the process
Handling Multiple Pets
If an adopter is interested in multiple pets:
- All selected pets will be included in the same public adoption link
- The adoption fee will automatically calculate the total for all pets
- Upon completion, all pets will be marked as adopted by this adopter
