On 27 April 2021, someone dumped a mother dog and 6 puppies not far from the Sanctuary. One puppy was squashed by a car and the mother disappeared so we just couldn't leave them. We named them the five Ds - Donny, Dean, Dirk, Dottie and Dawn. Donny was adopted quickly and after a promising start, Dawn, along with siblings Dirk, Dottie and Dean contracted Distemper in the outbreak of May-July 2021. Sadly, Dottie passed away from Distemper and Dirk looked like he was on his way to recovering, but slipped away a few weeks later. Dawn made it, and has now grown into a very loving and lovable dog. Her last sibling Dean was adopted a short while ago and we were overjoyed in December 2021 when finally Dawn was chosen by a family. Unfortunately, the match didn't last too long, and we took her back in late February 2022. Sometimes adoptions just don't work out the way we would like. We check up on all our dogs in the first few months and if we don't think the dog is getting the kind of care that we would hope for - we bring them back. We hope that the right family will step forward and provide a good home for a very deserving little girl.
