On 13 February 2023, a lady came to the Sanctuary and said she had seen a dog lying in the road, seemingly a hit and run. We have so many critical cases right now I was really hesitant but said yes as I couldn't bear to leave it suffering. She brought the dog to the Sanctuary and on examination, its an old injury so the poor dog will have been dragging herself around for who knows how long. We called her Valentina, being so close to Valentines Day. She has similar injuries to Sinead, Allie, and Garbe. We started her on laser therapy immediately and also take her for x-rays. This kind of injury isn't usually painful at this stage, as nerves are damaged, but they need a lot of care and daily wrapping of legs to avoid abrasions. She saw some improvement, and like Sinead can now move around, although benefits from being on the smooth clean floors of the offices and clinic.
