Managing Public Profiles

Learn how to manage public profiles for your shelter in PawPlacer.

PawPlacer offers shelters the flexibility to keep their profiles and pets private or display them publicly to potential adopters. By default, all profiles start as private. Follow these steps to make your shelter and pets visible to the public:

Steps for Managing Public Profiles

1. Access Shelter Settings

  • Navigate to Settings: Go to the 'Settings' page where you will see your shelter settings, including the option to enable public visibility.

2. Add Shelter Address

  • Mandatory Address: Enter your shelter's address. This is required to generate a map and calculate the distance from adopters to your shelter. Ensure the address is accurate to facilitate potential adopters in finding your location.

3. Enable Public Visibility

  • Toggle Visibility: Enable the toggle switch to make your shelter's profile and pets publicly visible.
  • Automatic Display: Once enabled, all future pets marked as "available" will be displayed publicly. If you prefer a specific pet to remain private, go to their profile and click the eye toggle icon. This action hides them from public view while keeping them visible internally.

4. Display Requirements for Pets

  • Availability: Only pets marked as "available" will appear publicly.
  • Images Required: Pets must have at least one image to display publicly, though a minimum of three images is recommended for better engagement.

5. Set Shelter Hours

  • Schedule Hours: Set your shelter's hours through 'Settings' > 'Schedule'. These hours will be displayed on your public profile, providing adopters with information on when you are open.

6. Preview Public Profile

  • Preview: You can view your public profile by visiting the 'Settings' page. Above the profile visibility switch, there is a button to preview your public profile.

By following these steps, you can effectively manage your shelter's public profile, ensuring that potential adopters have access to essential information about your shelter and the pets available for adoption.
