Reacting to Messages

Learn how to react to messages and use other interactive features in PawPlacer's messaging system

Using Message Reactions and Interactions

PawPlacer's messaging system offers several ways to interact with messages beyond simply replying with text. These interactive features help you provide quick feedback, organize information, and take action on important messages.

Message Reactions

Reactions allow you to respond to messages with emoji, providing quick feedback without cluttering the conversation with text replies.

Adding a Reaction

  1. Hover your mouse over the message you want to react to
  2. A reaction toolbar will appear below the message
  3. Click on one of the available emoji options:
  • 👍 (Like)
  • 👎 (Dislike)
  • ❤️ (Love)
  • 🎉 (Celebrate)
  • 😊 (Smile)
  • 🤔 (Thinking)
  • 🚨 (Siren)
  1. Your reaction will appear below the message with a counter showing how many people have used that reaction

Viewing Reactions

  • All reactions are visible below the message they apply to
  • Each reaction shows a count of how many people have used it
  • Hover over a reaction to see the names of team members who have reacted

Removing a Reaction

  1. To remove your reaction, simply click on the reaction again
  2. The reaction count will decrease, and if you were the only person who used that reaction, it will disappear

Creating Tasks from Messages

One of PawPlacer's most powerful features is the ability to convert messages into actionable tasks. This ensures important information doesn't get lost in conversation.

Converting a Message to a Task

  1. Hover your mouse over the message you want to convert to a task
  2. Click the task icon (clipboard with check mark) that appears
  3. PawPlacer will analyze the message content and suggest task details:
  • Task name
  • Description
  • Due date (if time information was included in the message)
  1. Review and edit these details as needed
  2. Select a board and column to assign the task to
  3. Assign team members to the task if needed
  4. Click "Create Task" to add it to your selected board

Task Creation Tips

  • Messages that contain clear action items work best for task conversion
  • Messages with time references (like "tomorrow" or "next week") will have suggested due dates
  • You can always modify the suggested task details before creating the task

Message Timestamps and Threading

Message Timestamps

  • The time a message was sent appears above the message or when hovering over it
  • Messages sent close together in time are grouped to reduce clutter
  • Date dividers appear in the chat to separate conversations from different days

Message Threading

PawPlacer groups messages from the same sender that are sent within a short time of each other. This creates a cleaner interface and makes conversations easier to follow.

Message Search and Navigation

While viewing a conversation:

  1. Use keyboard shortcuts (Page Up/Down) to quickly scroll through messages
  2. The chat remembers your position when you switch between conversations
  3. When returning to a conversation with unread messages, you can easily scroll to see what's new

These interaction features make PawPlacer's messaging system more dynamic and efficient, helping your team communicate effectively while keeping important information organized and actionable.
